Secret Pulse

from Orgone by Harlan Mark Vale

/

about

Regensburger Domspatzen Boys Choir performed on 4.24.2014 at Grand Canyon National Park Shrine of the Ages. I recorded some vowel sounds from the performance on my iPhone and created a sampler instrument out them within Reason. I created this composition with that instrument of vocal sounds.
The title comes from an Alan Wallace lecture where he describes in the Tibetan culture the medical knowledge and use of the heart pulse. When a child becomes to sick to travel, the mother will go to the physician who can be many miles away from the higher elevation communities. The physician will listen to the mothers pulse. Then the physician will again listen deeply for the pulse of the child carried by the mother since birth. He will diagnose and offer an antidote to the childs' affliction. The mother will then travel back up the mountain to deliver to the child the medicine. Every mother carries within her, this "secret pulse".
