about

www.pianobook.co.uk/features/pianoday2020/

Here is my contribution to the Pianobook Piano Day 2020 project.
It uses a felt piano sample from the pianobook library which is then manipulated in a granular fashion to construct a textural melody.

THE WORLD’S BIGGEST PIECE OF SYSTEM’S MUSIC

To celebrate Piano Day 2020, the Pianobook Community has joined together to attempt to create the world’s biggest piece of system’s music. Inspired by the music of Steve Reich and taking a lead from Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choirs the community has submitted over 380 parts to make up the final piece. You can check out all the submissions with the hashtag #pianobookpianoday2020 on YouTube.

The World Premiere of the final piece will be:
SATURDAY 28TH MARCH 2020 – 5PM GMT
SPITFIRE AUDIO YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Make sure you are subscribed to the Spitfire Audio channel to tune in. Following the Premiere, Christian Henson will provide a more in-depth look at the making of the piece on his YouTube channel.
